about

I find the title of this cassette somewhat misleading - a curious inscription that reads with the same brief lyricism as the title of an Edward Hopper painting.  However, it becomes clear from the outset that Balcony Mist After Nine has no interest in poised and mannered romance.   No atmospherics, no smoke and mirrors, no sentimentality.  This is robust, gritty and unaffected, like it was created by the chapped hands of a labourer.  Rough hewn walls of noise, piercing flatline feedback and stuttering staccato stereofield, all rendered in concrete grey.  It's good to be mislead.

Dubbed on black cassettes with on-body labels and four panel J-card.
